The law of 68 wins continues! All 7 teams in history have reached the division finals with 68+ wins, 4 teams win the championship and 2 teams are depressed

Basketball

On May 19, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Denver Nuggets 125-93 in the tiebreaker match and advanced to the Western Conference Finals with their heads raised!

This victory not only allowed the Thunder to return to the Western Conference Finals stage after 9 years, but also continued an NBA historical law - all teams that win 68+ in a single season will reach at least 100% of them.

Thunder's 68 wins and 14 losses this season make them the seventh team in history to achieve this achievement. Among the previous 6 teams with 68 wins, 4 teams finally won the championship, and 2 teams with a hatred final or a division final.

Only 7 teams in NBA history have won 68+ wins in a single season. The Thunder's joining has added a newcomer to this "elite club":

1995-96 Bulls (72 wins) - Champion

1971-72 Lakers (69 wins) - Champion

1996-97 Bulls (69 wins) - Champion

1 966-67 Philadelphia 76ers (68 wins) - Championship

1972-73 Celtics (68 wins) - East Finals defeat North

2015-16 Warriors (73 wins) - Finals reversed by the Cavaliers

2024-25 Thunder (68 wins) - West Finals waiting to be played

The Thunder's success is by no means accidental. This season, they averaged 12.9 points per game, surpassing the Lakers (+12.28 points), and ranking first in NBA history.

Alexander (average 32.7 points per game), Homgren (DPOY-level defense) and Jaylen Williams (all-around forward), plus high-quality puzzles such as Caruso and Hartenstein, build a super battleship that integrates offense and defense.

Faced with the thunderous youth storm, the Nuggets seemed unable to do so. Although Jokic scored 20+9+7, the sluggishness of Murray (13 points) and Gordon (only 8 points with injury) made the team's offense stagnant. Westbrook-34's plus or negative value is the worst in his career, and the Nuggets may face lineup restructuring during the offseason.

In contrast, the Thunder, Alexander's performance of 35 points + zero mistakes confirmed his MVP-level dominance, while the outbreaks of Jewish (24 points) and Homgren (13+11) show the terrifying depth of this young army.

Thunder's Western Conference Finals will be the Minnesota Timberwolves, which will be the first playoff encounter between the two teams in 27 years (the last time the Supersonics narrowly won 3-2). The showdown between Edwards and Alexander is regarded as the battle of handover of the scepter in the "post-Janduku era".

If the Thunder can continue the probability of winning the team with 68 wins (4/7), they are expected to replicate the miracle of the Philadelphia 76ers in 1966-67-the 68-win team led by Chamberlain, and eventually defeated the Warriors in the finals to reach the top.

From the youth of Durant's era to the maturity of Alexander's era, the Thunder announced the completion of reconstruction with the 68 wins + Western Conference Finals report card.
