The Thunder signed three young players at once, but they should all be cut soon?
Oklahoma City Thunder officially announced that the team has signed backcourt player Jazian Gortman, forward Zack Austin and backcourt player Chris Youngblood, who was previously in free agency.
Gotman was born in April 2003 and is 22 years old, 185cm tall and weighs 79kg. He is the undraft in the 2023 NBA Draft. In the NBA regular season last season, Gottman played 16 times for the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 3.5 minutes per game, with averaging 1.5 points, 0.3 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.1 steals, and 0.1 blocks, 0.3 turnovers and 0.6 fouls, shooting percentage of 39.1%, three-point shooting percentage of 36.4%, and free throw shooting percentage of 50%. In the NBA Development League last season, he made a total of 34 appearances for the Mavericks' subordinate team, Texas Legend, and averaged 34.5 minutes per game, with averaging 20 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks, 5 turnovers and 2.9 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 45.1%, a three-point shooting percentage of 27.2%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 81.3%. In the previous NBA summer league, Gottman played 8 games for the Thunder, averaging 16.8 minutes per game, with averaging 8.9 points, 2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.2 blocks. He also had 1.9 turnovers and 1.4 fouls, shooting percentage of 46.9%, three-point shooting percentage of 25%, and free throw shooting percentage of 72.7%.
Austin was born in August 2001 and is 24 years old, 196cm tall and weighs 98kg. He is the undraft in this year's NBA draft. In the NCAA game last season, Austin played 32 times in total for the University of Pittsburgh, where he was, with averaging 32.1 minutes per game, averaging 9.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.6 blocks, and 0.6 turnovers and 1.9 fouls. His shooting percentage was 42.4%, his three-point shooting percentage was 38.1%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 90.2%. In the previous NBA summer league, Austin played 7 games for the Thunder, averaging 14.1 minutes per game, with averaging 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.1 blocks. He also had 0.6 turnovers and 2 fouls. His shooting percentage was 17.2%, his three-point shooting percentage was 5%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 91.7%.
Jan Brad was born in February 2002 and is 23 years old, 193cm tall and weighs 101kg. He is the undraft in this year's NBA draft. Last season, Youngbrad transferred from the University of South Florida to join the University of Alabama. In the NCAA game last season, he played 28 times for the University of Alabama, averaging 25.3 minutes per game, averaging 10.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks, and 1.1 turnovers and 2.2 fouls. He shot 44.7%, three-point shooting percentage 38.8%, and 80.4% free throw shooting percentage. In the previous NBA Summer League, Youngbrad played 7 games for the Thunder, averaging 21.9 minutes per game, averaging 11 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.1 blocks, and 0.9 turnovers and 4 fouls. His shooting percentage was 49.2%, a three-point shooting percentage of 46.5%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 72.7%. The players signed by the Thunder actually have big differences in style and position. Gottman is a backcourt scorer with strong ball offense and scoring skills, Austin is a forward gate with strong defensive ability, and Youngbrad is a reliable pitcher, but they also have many fatal shortcomings. Gottman has poor outside shooting ability, Austin has limited ability on the offensive end, and Youngbrad's role in the defensive end is not too great. If nothing unexpected happens, these players should have switched to Oklahoma City Blue, a NBA Development League team under the Thunder after the start of the new season. I wonder if any of them will stand out and appear in the NBA arena.
