Ukrainian backcourt star will join the Polish League powerhouse, and does the Rockets have his NBA signing rights?

Basketball

Polish league team Slask Wroclaw officially announced that the team has signed backcourt star Yusuf Sanon from Ukraine, and Sanon received a one-year contract from Slask Wroclaw.

Sanon was born in October 1999. He is 25 years old, 193cm tall and weighs 84kg. He is the backcourt player selected by the Washington Wizards in the 44th pick in the second round in the 2018 NBA Draft. Sanon has represented the Wizards in the NBA Summer League twice in the summer of 2018 and 2019, but his performance in the summer league for two consecutive seasons was terrible, and he has never received a contract from the Wizards. In February 2020, Sanon's NBA signing rights were traded to the New York Knicks, and in November 2020, Sanon's NBA signing rights were traded to the Houston Rockets. Some media said that the Rockets have given up Sanon's NBA signing rights (such as Realgm), but others believe that the Rockets still retain Sanon's NBA signing rights (such as Spotrac). Judging from the actual situation, the Rockets seem to have no reason to inexplicably give up Sanon's NBA signing rights, which seems to be meaningless.

Sanon has a very rich career experience, and has played in the Ukrainian League, the Adriatic League and the Estonian-Latvian League. Last season, Sanon played for Estonia-Latvian League team VEF Riga. He played 34 games in all competitions, averaging 26 minutes per game, averaging 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.3 blocks, and 2.4 turnovers and 2.9 fouls. He shot 44.9%, three-point shooting percentage 29.4%, and free throw shooting percentage 67.8%. Sanon's performance last season was quite good. He showed quite good breakthrough and finishing ability on the offensive end. He is also a player with very good scoring ability. Sanon helped the team win the Latvian League, Latvian Cup and Estonia-Latvian League championships last season. He himself won the honors of the Estonian-Latvian League MVP and the Latvian Cup FMVP, and he also showed his strong dominance.

For Sanon, next season is actually an excellent opportunity for him to prove his strength. Slask Wroclaw has the opportunity to participate in the Eurocup match, and Sanon also has the opportunity to prove his strength on such a higher level stage. If he can show his dominance last season in such a game, he will also have the opportunity to get attention from higher-level European League teams and even attract the attention of NBA teams. I don't know what kind of performance he will perform next season.
