3 reasons why the Lakers should accept the Warriors trade with LeBron James with Cuminga
Golden State Warriors' contract extension with forward Jonathan Cumingga is at a deadlock. As of now, Kumingga is still a free agent and the Warriors have offered him a contract, but he has not decided whether to return to the Warriors this season.
Despite the differences between the two sides, according to reporter Tim, Warriors owner Joe Lacob is a fan of Jonathan Cumingga and has no plans to trade him this summer unless it is a deal he thinks is worth it. While many teams are interested in the striker, the Warriors' ability prevents other teams from signing contracts with him.

As the Warriors offered an insulting $7.9 million contract extension, Jonathan Cumingga's situation attracted close attention from other teams. These include the Los Angeles Lakers, who need an improvement in athletic ability on the wing. Although their trading assets are limited, they still have a reason to make a bold deal, even if it means that the Purple and Gold LeBron James parted ways. The following are three reasons such a deal could be achieved:
3. Increase depth and athletic ability in a short period of time
The Lakers have been active in the offseason, bringing in DeAndrew Aiton, Marcus Smart and Jack Lavia. After trading Anthony Davis, the team had a clear demand in the center position, which they quickly solved with Ayton, while Smart added valuable depth and resilience to the backcourt.
Although Lavia strengthened the strength of the flank offense and defense, Jonathan Kumingga might be the more suitable candidate. Kumingga is a forward with strong athletic ability, with reliable offensive efficiency and high talent, and can compete with multiple positions on the field. He may become a powerful replacement for LeBron James.

2, Lakers' future-oriented team lineup construction
Although LeBron James is still one of the greatest players in basketball history, he is now at dusk in his career. The four-time champion will turn 41 this year, and using him for 22-year-old Jonathan Cumingga could be a wise long-term move for the Lakers.
This will give them the opportunity to devote themselves entirely to building around Luca Doncic, with Austin Reeves, Rui Hachimura, Jack Lavia and Adu Tiero already forming a promising young forward lineup.
Selling James' $52 million contract will free up a lot of cap space, giving the Lakers a team-friendly contract to lock in Kumingga's space and continue to build for the future. With smart mid-season moves, they can still compete now while preparing for their long-term success.

1. Relieve Doncic's complete control of offensive ball rights
James and Doncic have had a partner for a while last season, and they both need to share the ball control task. Both players are organizational players and need to get the ball to create opportunities, which in turn will slow down the team's overall offense and will be detrimental to the team in the long run.
However, with Kuminga, Doncic will have full control of the offense, as the striker prefers to stand on the outside and shoot threes or break through. This move will also allow the team to build a complete system around Doncic's strengths without having to balance another high-usage offensive opportunity creator.
