On June 3, according to CNBC Sports, Warriors star Curry has not retired from the NBA, but has begun planning a new career path after retirement - including engaging in the broadcast industry, becoming a team owner and participating in the Golf PGA Tour Championship. The Warriors star talked about these plans in an interview with NBC Sports, which is part of the documentary "Curry's Company: Stephen Curry's Business Map," which focuses on Curry's career and business ambitions. The documentary will premiere on CNBC on June 4th at 9 pm ET.

37-year-old Curry already has a job after retirement waiting for him. He is CEO of Thirty Ink, a small conglomerate that includes Unanimous Media, bourbon brand Gentleman's Cut and 7k marketing consulting firm. He told CNBC Sports that he plans to participate in the company's daily operations more deeply after ending his professional basketball career and assume a more core management role.

However, Curry's vision is more than his own company. He hopes to follow in Michael Jordan, who owned the Charlotte Hornets from 2010 to 2023 and is the only former NBA player to become a major shareholder in the NBA team.

"He is probably the only person in our generation who sits in that position and does that," Curry said. "Being a member of the team's holding group and having the right opportunity to influence how the team runs - pursuing real victory as we do with the Warriors - is the direction I'm eager to explore. It's interesting that as an active player, you can't get into this level before you retire. So someday you'll see me sitting in that position." Curry pointed out that as NBA teams keep rising valuations, he may not be able to take on most of the equity. According to CNBC Sports’ official valuation in 2025, the average market value of NBA teams is $4.66 billion.

"Obviously, there are different levels in it," Curry said.

Curry is an investor in the Women's 3-on-3 Basketball League Unrivaled and has expressed interest in acquiring a WNBA team. Last year, Sportico ranked Curry as the second highest-paid athlete in the world, with an estimated salary and endorsement revenue of $153.8 million. Forbes estimates Jordan's net worth is about $3.5 billion.

Curry renewed a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors last year, extending his playing days with the team until 2027. In the 2024-25 season, his salary exceeded $55 million, making him the first player in NBA history to exceed $40 million, 50 million and 60 million in a single season. He has been the highest basic salary in the league since 2017. After he retires, he is likely to join NBC, ESPN or Amazon's NBA studio programs, and such jobs may bring him millions of dollars in revenue. Curry said he would "definitely" consider working on broadcasting but would not make hasty decisions.

"I'll be more patient," Curry said. He mentioned that former NFL quarterback Tom Brady directly joined Fox Radio after retirement, and his current teammate Draymond Green has served as an NBA analyst for TNT Sports for many years as an active player.

"I'm thinking about what is the right opportunity for me, because whatever I do, I want to devote myself to it," Curry said. "Now it's just looking at different paths and possible options." Curry also revealed that he's already considering entering the PGA Tour Championship - a top tour for former PGA players over the age of 50.

Curry's idea of competing with professionals for championships may seem ridiculous, but he is very serious about it. Although he is 13 years away from his 50th year (Curry will celebrate his 50th birthday in 13 years), he has reached the top amateur level as a golfer who has not devoted himself to training.

He won the 2023 US Century Championship, beating other top golfers. Curry scored 72 in the final round and won the game.

"It's definitely an interesting goal worth pursuing," Curry said. "If you're not a former PGA champion who's transformed after 50, it's extremely difficult to make it to the tour. So completing all the qualifying process-I'll definitely try, I've seen someone preparing for the same goal."
