Q: Steve, I want to follow up on the defensive aspect. You mentioned just now - the opponent was only allowed to score 30 points in the second half and was limited to less than 80 points in the whole game. How would you describe the team's defensive performance tonight? Especially the second half - can you talk about that a little bit more?

A: The first thing we have been emphasizing repeatedly is that "offense can help defense." I feel like we did that tonight. And it's not just about reducing turnovers, it's about playing "consistent basketball."

So, once the situation on the court becomes a little unstable, we have to make sure the ball is in the hands of Jimmy Butler. He can stabilize the game, he can draw fouls, he can create open shots for us so we don’t turn the ball over.

I think over the past game and a half, we have been more purposeful in our execution on the offensive end, and that has greatly improved our defensive performance.

But other than that, I mean, Draymond Green is still one of the best defenders on the planet. I felt that he completely controlled this game with his switching defense and help defense throughout the game. Draymond is so good.

And, you know, I think the depth of our team right now is really strong - we can bring players like Moses (Moody), BP (Podemski), Buddy (Hield), Gary (Payton Jr.) off the bench. We can hit a lot of people. Playing five games in eight days at the beginning of the season is really tough.

So I couldn't be more proud of these guys - not only getting off to a 4-1 start, but more importantly, they quickly established what kind of team we wanted to be and how we wanted to play the game. It was an incredible eight days. Next up, we're obviously going to go on a road trip and continue to get better.
