Amorin: I still have the confidence to lead the team and continue to move forward, and I firmly believe that my coaching method is correct

Football

Hupu, August 30th, at 22:00 on August 30th, Manchester United will face Burnley at home in the third round of the Premier League. Before the game, Manchester United coach Amorin attended the press conference, and the following is the non-live broadcast part. Is it difficult for players to get out of the shadow of last season?

is not about "forgot" the past, but about "remembering" the past, but we cannot change the past. So why not change the outcome of the next game - let's work hard to win the first Premier League game of the new season.

We need a victory to build confidence. Football is so interesting: we performed well in the preseason, and we played well against Arsenal, but we just failed to win; but in the 30 minutes against Fulham, the team obviously lacked confidence, and this mentality continued to the next game.

Now we must find the right mindset: what is important at the moment is not the result, but the performance - what the result is, there will naturally be an answer in the end.

You just mentioned the excellent performance in the preseason and also mentioned the game against Arsenal. So are you surprised by the team's rapid decline in the last two games? More importantly, do you still firmly believe that you have the ability to lead this club forward?

depends on the specific day, but overall I am confident because I have seen these players perform very well in tough battles and their condition in training is much better than before. The results of the last two games are not "surprised", but "shocked" - especially in the last game, which is not the style and state our team should have.

So, I have always believed that my coaching style is right, and I have been reminding myself that if Bruno scored that penalty, if we seized the first three scoring opportunities against Fulham, the situation would be completely different.

Sometimes, it is these tiny gaps that change the entire "narrative direction" - within a week, the atmosphere of the club may be completely different.

Previously, there was news that people like Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, you think they stayed will help boost the morale of the team. Now that you have the players you want – they are willing to stay on the team and don’t challenge your authority – but there is still such a performance, what does that mean?

This has nothing to do with "challenging authority". The original lineup was adjusted not to "clear the atmosphere in the team", but to keep those players who are "willing to stay at Manchester United and willing to do their best for Manchester United" - that's all. So now, we just need to focus on winning and get back the level that has been shown in some games this season.

You mentioned just now that sometimes you have the idea of "resigning" - maybe this is a bit joking, but behind the scenes, who convinced you to dispel this idea and calm you down?

is myself. I only need 10 minutes to be alone and no one needs to enlighten me. I am such a person, and this will not change. And what you said "want to quit" does not mean "I want to quit because I don't love players" - just like sometimes I even "hate" my own children, I have this kind of personality and will not change.

Sometimes this kind of personality is a good thing, and sometimes it is quite interesting. I do feel tormented now, but we only need to win a few games. The past cannot be changed, we can only focus on the next game. As long as we start winning, many things will be much easier to deal with.

After the game, I have a lot of criticisms of you, focusing on formation and tactical system. I know you said on Wednesday that “format and system are not important” and if they really don’t matter, then why are you so “stubborn” tactical? If the situation worsens, have you considered adjusting your tactics and making changes?

Dear everyone, if I think "change" is the best choice, I will definitely change it. I have played 442 and 433 formations in my life, and the only one I have never played is 343, so I know a lot about various formations. My current thinking is: first practice a tactical style to the extreme, and then adapt to different opponents.

Some coaches have the idea of "determine a formation first, and then change it if you don't work", but my idea is "Let's determine a set of core tactics first so that this set of tactics can be adapted to the formations of different opponents" - I will naturally make a lot of adjustments when everyone can "get familiar with this set of core tactics".

You can't say "Manchester United always uses five defenders", nor can you say "Manchester United always uses four defenders" or "three defenders" - I'm just coaching players according to my own ideas, and I've said it many times: this is the fun of coaching.

If I had just used the 433 formation just to win, I wouldn't have stood here. Before I came to Manchester United, someone asked me, "Can you adapt to Manchester United's tactical system?" I said, "I will stick to my own tactical system, no matter what." If the club accepts it, then we will cooperate; if we don’t accept it, there is nothing we can do.

In the future, I may change my tactics - maybe one morning I wake up and suddenly feel "for my football philosophy, it's time to change", and I will adjust immediately.

I just want to win, but if you change it simply because "the tactics are not effective", I don't think the players will understand - they will feel that "this coach says one thing and does another, and they don't believe in their own ideas at all." Therefore, losing against Grimsby is not a problem with formation at all. To be honest, I didn't understand what formation the team was playing in the first half.
