Each Sport: Barcelona informed UEFA in advance and hoped to play the UEFA championship at the Camp Nou

Football

reported on August 27 that Barcelona notified UEFA in advance, hoping to play the Champions League group stage at Camp Nou.

Barcelona club took action in a game against schedule and renovation of the Camp Nou Stadium in Spotify. The club has expressed its willingness to play the Champions League group stage at home in advance by the deadline on August 28. The decision should have been informed by UEFA on the day of the European tournament draw, but there is still some uncertainty at the moment.

Barcelona does not want to take risks. According to this newspaper, the club will maintain direct contact with the highest football management agency in Europe for the next 48 hours to ensure that if the relevant permits are not in place in time, the "Plan B" of Montwhic Stadium can be activated.

At Camp Nou, various preparations are underway. Barcelona is about to complete the first phase 1 1A construction certification, which will allow the activation of the stands and the South Goal Zone to accommodate approximately 27,000 spectators. However, this does not meet UEFA's requirements, as it is required that at least one flanking area be required for television broadcasting.

When entering Phase 1B, the flanks will open and the number of seats will increase to 45,000. The North Goal Zone is left for Phase 1C, which is the last stage in the renovation plan. To buy more time, Barcelona management asked UEFA to allow them to play the first game of the group stage away. UEFA will not place obstacles on this, which will postpone Barcelona's debut in Europe until September 30 or October 1, and the two weeks are crucial to whether they can return to the Camp Nou.

Montehch Stadium as an alternative, the alternate venue has been determined. The club has reached an agreement with Barcelona Municipal Services (BSM) to extend the use permit for the Olympic Stadium until February. This not only provides guarantees for the league stage, but also supports possible play-offs in case Barcelona fails to advance directly to the knockout stage as they did last season. The key date is still August 28. On the day of the draw in Nyon, Barcelona must make the final decision to choose the stadium used throughout the group stage. Once UEFA is notified of the game venue, there will be no further changes until the knockout stage.

Clubs know that returning to home is more than a logistical issue: it means regaining immeasurable emotional and competitive advantages in two years, as well as the financial benefits of tickets and VIP seats. But time waits for no one, and the final answer will be announced this Thursday.
