ESPN: Dortmund bans players parents from entering the locker room area after Belin s incident

Football

August 27 ESPN reported that Dortmund will ban players' parents from entering the locker room area, after Job Bellingham's father caused controversy.

Mark Bellingham made a special trip from England to watch his son's Bundesliga debut against St. Pauli last Saturday, but after the game he had a dispute with sporting director Sebastian Kyle in the stadium control area, and he allegedly questioned why his son was replaced during the break.

Dortmond general manager Lars Ricken refused to discuss the details when asked about the matter on Sunday, but told Sky TV that the matter would have subsequent impact.

Ricken said: "I was not at the conversation at the time and we will prevent the situation from escalating by avoiding comments on such incidents."

Ricken announced that only players, coaches and officials would be allowed to enter the locker room area in the future.

Riken also downplayed the seriousness of the disagreement: "The reason we were able to sign Job Bellingham was based on the trust relationship we had established with parents over the years. This time, the family came from England to watch his son's Bundesliga debut, hoping to meet him at the team bus after the game. They stood at the entrance of the locker room and communicated with Kyle emotionally. This was not a problem in terms of the trust relationship between the two parties. All matters have been completely resolved today."

Kyle previously told Biography: "The activity area is always limited to players, coaches and officials, and families or agents are not allowed to enter. This kind of situation will not happen again, and we have clearly conveyed this regulation to all relevant parties."

Compared with his brother Jude Bellingham, Job's Bundesliga debut was disappointing. Dortmund finally drew 3-3 with St. Pauli, and Bellingham was replaced by Enmecha during the break in half. In September 2020, Jude Bellingham made his club's Bundesliga debut and contributed an assist in a 3-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. He transferred to Real Madrid in 2023.
