August 20th, the Argentine national team plans to play a friendly match in Luanda, the capital of Angola in November. However, according to French media "The Team", the plan has been opposed by four Angolan non-governmental organizations.

Early, when the Angolan Football Association visited Buenos Aires, Argentina, in late April, an agreement with the Argentina national team will be held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Angola's independence. Although the Argentine Football Association confirmed the progress of the visit, the game has not been confirmed. Last month, 30 people died in protests in Angola's domestic protests against rising fuel prices, and taxi driver strikes turned into mass riots, during which several robberies occurred.

The Alliance of NGOs led by the Justice and Peace Committee of the Angola Catholic Bishops Council issued an open letter saying: "This serious social crisis occurred in the political context of systematic suppression of criticism. With thousands of people suffering from hunger, hospitals facing collapse and intensified suppression, investing millions of dollars in hosting sporting events is not a legitimate priority, but an insult to human dignity." Therefore, they called on Messi to take "brave, moral and humanitarian action" and demand the cancellation of the game.
