BBC: Miami abandons De Bruyne s MLS priority negotiation rights, Chicago leads now

Football

reported on May 7 that Miami International has abandoned De Bruyne's priority negotiation rights.

De Bruyne will leave Manchester City after the end of this season, and Miami International has given up priority negotiation rights, which means that if the Belgian international decides to join the Major League Soccer League, the Chicago Flames will be in the lead.

Miami International has the right to discover De Bruyne, 33, which means they are the only team in the MLS that has the right to negotiate with them. The team could have decided whether to start negotiations by mid-July, but sources told BBC Sports that they would not advance the signing, which means De Bruyne would not be able to form a partner with Messi, Suarez and Busquets.

Now, Chicago Flames gains priority in negotiations with De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder announced in April that he would leave Manchester City after his contract expired this season. Sources said De Bruyne's representative is about to meet with Chicago Flame, currently ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference. De Bruyne later said he was surprised that he had not received a renewal proposal from Manchester City club.

During his time at Manchester City, De Bruyne won 16 championship trophys, including 6 Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League title.
