Pay 100 million euros penalty! French media: DAZN will terminate broadcasting of Ligue 1 from next season

May 1, according to French media RMCSport, broadcasting platform DAZN will soon terminate the Ligue 1 broadcast contract signed with the French Professional Football League (LFP), and this decision will take effect after the end of this season.

In the existing broadcast contract, DAZN will broadcast 8 of 9 Ligue 1 games per round, until 2029, with an average annual broadcast fee of 375 million euros. LFP is currently negotiating with DAZN to terminate the contract early after the end of this season. The

DAZN platform stated: "Our contract with Ligue 1 includes a termination clause because they want to start their broadcast channel" and revealed that they have reached a compensation agreement with Ligue 1. In addition to paying 140 million euros for the last two periods of the current contract, DAZN will also pay 100 million euros in liquidated damages to terminate the contract early after the end of the season. The agreement will be submitted to the Ligue 1 board of directors for consideration on Friday.
