Perhaps Galatasaray just wants to sell a low offer to test the bottom line first, but any test should have a basic measure.

Football

In the past two days, the "Team News" revealed that the super giant Galatasaray had quoted Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson for 3 million euros. Once this news was announced, it immediately sparked heated discussions in the entire European football world. This is not like a normal transfer offer at all, but more like a joke - for a world-class goalkeeper like Ederson who is still in his prime, such a offer is not only funny, but also a naked humiliation.

Ederson's value is never simply measured by "coming into the contract year". The 31-year-old Brazilian is at the golden age of goalkeeper. In the past seven seasons, he has become the most stable link in Manchester City's defense line with his precise foot skills, ultimate reaction speed and stable save ability. Last season alone, Ederson completed 13 clean sheets in the Premier League, with a pass success rate of up to 91%. Such performance is still the TOP3 level goalkeeper level in the entire European football world. Even if the contract expires next summer, a goalkeeper who can perform at a stable top performance should never be sold so cheaply.

What is more dazzling is the separation between quotation and reality. Manchester City's valuation of Ederson is 10 million euros, which is already a conservative figure after the contract period. You should know that even though Neuer, 38, declined last year, Bayern's valuation of him is still around 8 million euros. Galatasaray's 3 million euros are less than one-third of Manchester City's psychological expectations, and it is even less than the transfer fee of some mid- and lower-level teams' substitute goalkeepers.

What is more contradictory is Galatasaray's own behavioral logic. They are willing to offer Ederson an annual salary of 6 million euros, which is enough to prove that they recognize the strength of the players - after all, an annual salary of 6 million yuan is in European football and can rank among the top five in the goalkeeper's salary list. But the transfer fee is reduced to 3 million euros. This combination of "high salary and low transfer fee" is essentially intended to use salary to tempt players to put pressure on the club, but at the same time, it does not want to pay a reasonable price for the players' immediate combat effectiveness.

But they obviously miscalculated two points: one is Ederson's feelings for Manchester City. As a team's meritorious service, he may not be willing to leave by forcing the palace; the second is the professional dignity of top players. A quotation of 3 million euros is equivalent to telling everyone "You are only worth this price". This is a more hurtful negation than money for a champion goalkeeper who has won the Champions League, Premier League, and Club World Cup. The ridicule of fans is not a big deal. When the entry "3 million Ederson" hit the hot search, the voices in the comment section, "This is here to be funny" and "purely disgusting" are essentially the maintenance of the football value system. At a time when the transfer market is becoming increasingly utilitarian, the players' strength, honor and professional attitude should be respected, rather than being randomly crushed as bargaining chips.

Perhaps Galatasaray just wants to sell a low offer to test the bottom line first, but any test should have a basic measure. For a player like Ederson, the 3 million euro quotation is really a bit of a loss. I wonder why Galatasaray was embarrassed to offer such a ridiculous offer.
