Real Madrid confirmed with the team: Raul Asensio s contract renewal until 2031, the termination fee is 1 billion euros

June 14th, TheAthletic's Real Madrid reporter Mario Cortegana confirmed that Raul Asensio has renewed his contract with Real Madrid until 2031.

TA reported in March that Real Madrid activated the preset priority renewal clause in the 22-year-old defender's contract, extending its contract to 2029. This clause is commonly found in the club's youth training player contract and automatically triggered when he is promoted to the first team.

After completing the terms renewal, the two parties immediately started new negotiations and finally reached this improved contract that lasted until 2031, including the 1 billion euro termination fee clause and salary increase clause.

Due to the long-term injury of Militon and Carvajal, Asensio ushered in an outbreak in the 2024-25 season and has played 41 games on behalf of the first team since his debut in November last year. He was selected for the Spanish national team for the first time in March this year, but has not yet made his senior debut.

TA disclosed in May that Asensio may face criminal proceedings for allegedly spreading indecent videos of minors. As one of four former Real Madrid youth training players involved in the case, the core allegations in this case involve filming and disseminating indecent content of a minor and another woman without consent, and his case has been transferred to the procuratorate. During the 2024-25 season, Asensio encountered many insulting slogan attacks, and then head coach Ancelotti made it clear in February that he would not hide the players.
