According to official news on November 22, English second-division team Grimsby has urgently loaned 37-year-old Derby County goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell for a period of 7 days.

Grimsby quickly signed the 37-year-old player from Derby County after main goalkeeper Pimm was sent off against Chesterfield last week.

Greensby only has 20-year-old Charlie Casper left, who has yet to play a league game in his career. Now, veteran O'Donnell will go directly to Grimsby for this weekend's away game to Swindon.

Since his debut in the English Football League in the 2007-08 season, O'Donnell has played 413 times in the English Championship, English League One and English League Two, and has rich experience. O'Donnell played for Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City, Rotherham, Northampton, Bradford City, Rochdale and Blackpool during his career.

This summer, O'Donnell joined the English Championship team Derby County and signed a one-year contract to provide them with a reliable substitute option. But he has not played in a game since February 2024.

O'Donnell briefly played for Grimsby in the 2010-11 season. At that time, Grimsby were still playing in the National League. O'Donnell was loaned to Grimsby from Sheffield Wednesday and played 10 times.

Grimsby currently ranks 10th in the English League Two, with a record of 7 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses.
